The All Progressives Congress in the South-West has urged youths across Ondo State to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards this is as the Independent National Electoral Commission has reopened the voter registration exercise across Nigeria.
The ruling party said this was necessary to enable the youths to perform their civic responsibility in the forthcoming general election.
The APC South-West Youth Leader, Daramola Adesuyi, stated this in a statement issued on Thursday.
According to him, the PVC remains the most critical document for any citizen wishing to participate in the democratic process in the country.
Adesuyi said, “Beyond just being a voting card, the PVC serves as a powerful instrument of civic engagement and a valid means of identification.
“The primary purpose of the PVC is to grant eligible citizens the right to vote in local and general elections. Without a PVC, a citizen cannot cast a vote, regardless of their eligibility or political interest.
“Mass voter registration and participation are essential for a healthy democracy, ensuring that the government truly reflects the will of the people.”
The zonal youth leader urged all APC youths and other stakeholders in the South-West to mobilise party members to participate in the third and final phase of the registration exercise.
According to him, following the successful conclusion of the second phase of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Permanent Voter Card registration exercise on April 17, 2026, the statement was issued to formally notify all APC youths and other stakeholders of the commencement of the third and final phase of the registration exercise.
He said, “All APC local government youth leaders, party leaders and key stakeholders, student leaders across various campuses, youth groups and all aspirants at all levels are directed to mobilise members to fully participate in the exercise.
“The INEC frequently conducts Continuous Voter Registration exercises to enable new voters, especially those who have recently turned 18, to register and obtain PVCs.
“The registration window also allows citizens to transfer their registration to a new location or apply for a replacement if their cards are lost or damaged.”
The PUNCH earlier reported that INEC had announced that the third and final phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration would commence on May 11, 2026, as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Chairman of the commission’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, stated this in a statement on Tuesday, saying the exercise would run until July 10, 2026, providing another window for eligible Nigerians to register.
