Police operatives in Niger State have arrested 30-year-old Agada Isaac with a military Baretta pistol, army camouflage and cap among others
The incident happened on Tuesday when the operatives attached to the ‘B’ Division Bida were on routine patrol sighted the suspect on a motorcycle approaching a temporary police checkpoint in Bida local government area.
Isaac on sighting the police patrol vehicle alighted from the motorcycle and took to his heels which drew the attention of the operatives.
The police gave him a hot chase and arrested him close to his residence near Federal Polytechnic Bida. During an on-the-spot search, they found the Baretta pistol which he claimed he bought from one Gideon a.k.a Starboy, residing in Suleja at the cost of N300,000.
Isaac who is known as Tee-light was also taken to his residence where a search revealed a military camouflage, cap, knicker and a jacket.
Issac confessed to being a member of the Vikings, a cult group and a photographer on campus. He claimed that a friend gave him the camouflage on campus.
The Niger State Police Command spokesman Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the arrest on Tuesday saying that the suspect was under further interrogation and efforts were on to arrest Gideon and other accomplices .
“On sighting the Police operatives, he stepped down from the motorcycle and took to his heels which raised a strong suspicion.
“The suspect was arrested and during the on the spot search, he was found with a Baretta pistol. In a further search of his residence, a military camouflage cap, knicker and a jacket were recovered.
“During interrogation, he confessed to having been a member of a cult group known as “Vikings” and he added that he bought the pistol from one Gideon a.k.a Starboy residing in Suleja at the cost of three hundred thousand naira.
“He further claimed to be a photographer on campus and a friend gave him the camouflage. The suspect is under further investigation and effort to apprehend Gideon and other accomplices is in progress,” Abiodun said.
