Students of Cross River State University on Monday staged a violent protest in Calabar, the state capital, over the death of their colleagues.
DAILY POST gathered that some students of the university had travelled for a friendly football match in Uyo but were involved in a ghastly accident on their way back to Calabar.
Sources said three of the students were later confirmed dead, as a hospital allegedly refused to attend to them.
The protesters destroyed some government facilities and headed to the governor’s office when security operatives allegedly opened fire to disperse them.
In a video clip making the rounds, several gunshots were heard as the protesters fled for safety.
Efforts by DAILY POST to reach the Cross River Police Command for comment proved unsuccessful as of press time.
