An aspirant for the Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency seat, Taiye Garrick, has said that leadership is not about entitlement but service, engagement and impact.
The APC chieftain, in a message on Sunday, said he is in the race to ensure that the constituency aligns with the ongoing infrastructural transformation in the state under the Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration.
The seasoned administrator and international businessman said if he gets his party’s nod and eventually wins the general election, he would also serve as a vital bridge between the federal government and his constituency.
According to him, he would facilitate projects to complement the state government’s efforts and bring further development to the area.
He said, “Leadership is not about entitlement or personal gain but about service, engagement and impact.
“My desire is to ensure that Egor and Ikpoba Okha aligns with the ongoing infrastructural transformation in the state under the Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration
“If I get the nod to serve my people, I will act as a vital bridge between the federal government and my constituency as well as facilitate projects to complement the efforts of the state government.”
He commended Okpebholo for the key project he has embarked on in the state like the first flyover, which is nearing completion and ongoing development in Ologbo as well as various road construction initiatives.
He described himself as progressive and focused, noting that his educational background in public administration and policy would come in handy in governance.
He said, “I have always wanted to be a legislator to influence and lobby to bring the best projects into my state. I needed to know the meaning of policy so I have a master’s in policy analysis and I have been in Abuja for over 22 years.
“I have worked with a special adviser of project and monitoring. In that role, I understood and came to realise how government, ministry and agencies work as well as how state governments benefit from the centre
“My constituency is one of the urban areas in Edo State. I am offering my experience, which will inspire young entrepreneurs and others, to let them know that it doesn’t matter where you come from, where you were born, who you know, what matters is your commitment to service.”
