The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the August 15 election in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, on Sunday said the opposition is already intimidated by his action plans ahead of the poll.
Oyebamiji made the remark during an engagement with members of the Nigerian Society of Professional Tailors in Osogbo, where he also assured the electorate that he would not betray their trust if elected.
He said the seven-point agenda, unveiled on Friday, would be implemented to the letter for the benefit of the masses.
According to a statement made available to PUNCH Online, Oyebamiji was represented at the event by the Chairman of Civic Engagement of the APC Campaign Council, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye.
The APC candidate said his campaign blueprint, code-named “PROSPERITY,” was carefully designed to meet the needs of the people and reposition Osun State for greater development.
He explained that the agenda focuses on poverty alleviation, workers’ welfare, job creation, transparency, economic growth, security, education, and renewed investment in infrastructure.
“I want to assure you again that I will not betray your trust if you give me your votes. I am contesting to serve you with all my strength, and I will not disappoint you.
“My newly unveiled seven-point agenda was carefully crafted for implementation when I am elected, and it will drive the growth of the state. Trust me with your votes, and I will keep my promise,” he said.
Oyebamiji also commended members of the tailoring association, describing them as people of integrity whose contributions to the state’s economy through their skills cannot be overlooked.
“A major part of the seven pillars of our action plans focuses on opportunities for economic growth and support programmes for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This will be fully implemented to strengthen your businesses.
“Trust me with your votes, and I will not betray your trust,” he added.
The APC candidate urged the electorate to disregard what he described as a campaign of calumny against him, insisting that the opposition was unsettled following the unveiling of his agenda.
“Since I unveiled my action plans, members and leaders of the opposition have been feeling the heat. They are quite intimidated and confused. I put my trust in God Almighty and you.
“I am certain our action plans will reposition the state when I am elected. Ignore them, and let’s join hands together to bring APC administration back to the state.
“The agenda was carefully crafted to meet the needs and aspirations of the people and will be faithfully implemented,” he said.
In his response, the Chairman of the association, Mr Rasheed Balogun, commended Oyebamiji for his sincerity and commitment to public service.
Balogun, who said he had known Oyebamiji since his tenure as Commissioner for Finance, noted that he consistently recognised and supported their group through the Office of Civic Engagement.
He expressed confidence in the APC candidate’s ability to fulfil his campaign promises and pledged the association’s support, saying, “We are for you.”
