A man simply identified as Iseleto has stabbed his 23 years old son, Miracle, to death in Osubi community, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was gathered that the suspect was enraged that the son rented a separate apartment for his mother (the suspect’s wife), in a bid to prevent further domestic violence in the house.
Iseleto was said to have fled the community after commiting the crime.
It was learnt that the son’s gesture provoked the suspect who deceived and lured him into a bush where he allegedly stabbed him several times with a dagger.
After the stabbing, the deceased struggled from the bush to the road and was rushed to the hospital where he died.
However, before he died, he narrated how his father tricked him to the bush and stabbed him.
It was also gathered that the fleeing suspect admitted to have committed the crime when his step-daughter called him on phone. He also called his relatives to inform them of the incident with a threat to also kill his wife for leaving her marital home and discontinuing the marriage.
Residents of the community said the suspect is a drunkard and chronic debtor who has a habit of beating his wife anytime he drinks himself to stupor.
According to neighbors, when the man is intoxicated, he would want to have sexual intercourse with his wife in the presence of their children in their one room apartment and when she refuses, he beats her up.
They added that the suspect attempted having carnal knowledge of his step-daughter and because she refused him, he drove her from the house.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident when contacted by DAILY POST.
Edafe added that the suspect is currently at large.
