Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu etched his name in Trabzonspor history on Saturday, scoring twice as the Claret-Blues secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Samsunspor at the 19 Mayıs Stadium, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Onuachu, who has been in exceptional form this season, headed home a precise cross from Albanian forward Ernest Muçi in the 23rd minute to give Trabzonspor the lead.
The Nigeria international doubled his tally in the 81st minute, calmly converting after being found by Umut Nayir’s square pass from the centre.
Muçi sealed the victory deep into stoppage time, slotting home a penalty with composure.
The brace brought Onuachu’s season total to 16 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions and extended his Super Lig tally to 15, keeping him top of the scoring chart.
The goals also made Onuachu the first foreign player in Trabzonspor’s history to score in both league meetings against Samsunspor in a single Super Lig season, according to Opta Can.
The Nigerian had previously scored in the 1-1 draw against Samsunspor at Papara Park on August 31, 2025.
Onuachu had another goal overturned following a VAR review in the 56th minute but continued to pose problems for the Samsunspor defence with his hold-up play and movement.
He finished with three attempts, two on target, plus two key passes and seven possession wins, underlining how his penalty-box craft gave Trabzonspor a constant outlet.
With the win, Trabzonspor remain third in the Super Lig with 45 points from 21 matches, closing the gap on the top two.
The Black Sea Storm sit just one point behind Fenerbahçe and four points shy of league leaders Galatasaray. Trabzonspor host Fenerbahçe next while Samsunspor visit Antalyaspor.
