Lagos witnessed the arrival of a new premium lifestyle event as the maiden edition of the Diaspora Ball held at EbonyLife Place, Victoria Island, drawing an impressive mix of celebrities, business leaders, creatives and socialites.
Hosted by Nigerian-American entrepreneur and healthcare IT consultant, Ayobami Magbagbeola, popularly known as Ayo Entity, the event set out to redefine the traditional Detty December experience by merging luxury entertainment with intentional networking and cultural exchange.
Speaking at the event, Ayo Entity said the ball was conceived as a platform that goes beyond socialising to foster meaningful connections, collaboration and long-term impact. According to him, the initiative was inspired by a desire to unite culture, ambition and opportunity within a refined and globally relevant setting.
The evening delivered a rich blend of entertainment and elegance, featuring live music performances, comedy, fashion showcases and curated networking sessions. Guests were welcomed by a live violin performance from Violinist Joe, which set the tone for the night, while top DJs including UK-based DJ Sierra, Lagos-based DJ FunkyBee and U.S.-based DJ Kobe kept the energy high on the dance floor. MC Edo Pikin served as host for the evening.
One of the standout moments of the night was the “Unlock the Mystery Box” activation, an interactive raffle open to all attendees. The initiative concluded on a memorable note when an usher emerged as one of the winners, drawing loud applause and underscoring the organisers’ emphasis on inclusivity.
Fashion also took centre stage, with N500,000 each awarded to the Best Dressed Male and Female of the night. In addition, the Global Impact Awards recognised two individuals for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields.
