The Police in Ogun State says it has arrested two additional suspects in connection with an ongoing investigation into a case of violent attacks and hijacking of a cement trailer along the Papalanto–Ilaro and Owode–Idiroko axis of the state.
The suspects are 24-year-old John Seun, popularly known as ‘Dagrin’, and 35-year-old Olanipekun Ezekiel also known as ‘Sharply’.
Recall that the command in January, arrested eight suspected members of the armed robbery syndicate and in the process recovered a locally made single-barrel pistol.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects participated in a gang operation during which a trailer conveying 900 bags of cement was hijacked.
The driver restrained after which the consignment was diverted to the syndicate’s buyer.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that investigations were ongoing to track, locate and apprehend other fleeing members.
In a statement on Thursday, Babaseyi said two suspects have been arrested and on interrogation confessed to be members of the armed robbery syndicate.
He added that they also confessed to have committed murder during previous criminal operations.
The statement reads, “The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two additional suspects in connection with an ongoing investigation into a case of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and hijacking of a cement trailer.
“Further investigation disclosed that the suspects confessed to having committed murder during previous criminal operations of the syndicate.”
