A Texas girl was kidnapped while walking her dog and taken to a local hotel, where authorities found her and the man who allegedly abducted her.
Graham Michael Dunn, 27, is accused of forcing the 12-year-old into his car the evening of Friday, January 30, when she had taken her dog out for a walk in Galveston, according to court documents viewed by KTRK-TV.
The dog later showed up at her family’s home, alone, leading them to call the police, the TV station reported.
The girl started to walk her dog around 7 p.m. that evening and “had not returned home after more than 90 minutes,” the Galveston Police Department said in a news release issued on Saturday, January 31.
Her phone was ultimately traced to the Galveston Beach Hotel, where Dunn is accused of drugging her with two pills, court documents say, according to KTRK-TV.
While searching for her, authorities also spotted her on hotel surveillance footage, police said.
The footage appeared to show her “entering a room with an unknown male,” who was identified as Dunn, according to police.
A video published to Facebook by Harvey Freebird, who is described by KGTX 7 as a police auditor, shows officers responding to the hotel around 4 a.m. the morning of January 31, the TV station reported.
Officers then went into the hotel room and found Dunn with the girl, according to police. They arrested him on an aggravated kidnapping charge, police said.
Information on Dunn’s legal representation was not listed in court records viewed by Us Weekly the afternoon of Wednesday, February 4.
After Galveston police rescued the girl, she told investigators that she felt “woozy” after Dunn had given her two pills at the hotel, according to court documents obtained by KTRK-TV.
The girl also said Dunn had sexually molested her and filmed the abuse with his phone, according to investigators, the TV station reported.
When officers found them inside the hotel room, they found Dunn in his boxers and saw the girl on a bed “with her pants down,” according to court documents reviewed by the TV station.
She was ultimately taken to a local emergency room for a medical assessment, according to police.
“The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible,” police said.
The Galveston Police Department did not immediately return a request for comment from Us on February 4.
Court records show Dunn’s bond was set at $500,000.

He also has an active arrest warrant out of Dallas County, records reveal. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office told KTRK-TV that the warrant relates to a family violence case.
Dunn is separately accused of crimes involving three women in North Carolina, according to records viewed by the TV station.
Dunn is due in court for a status conference on February 10 in connection with the Galveston kidnapping incident, records show.
If he is convicted of kidnapping, Dunn could be sentenced to anywhere between two to ten years in prison and fined up to $10,000, according to the Saputo Toufexis law firm, which is based in Dallas.
