The Jigawa State Police Command has engaged leaders of all registered political parties in the state in an effort to ensure orderly, peaceful, and weapon-free political activities.
State Commissioner of Police, CP. Dahiru Muhammad, gave the warning during a meeting he convened under the platform of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) held on Tuesday at the command headquarters in Dutse.
He emphasized the importance of early and continuous communication with the police, particularly the need to formally notify the command ahead of rallies, processions, and other public gatherings.
He explained that such cooperation would enable the police to provide adequate security, offer necessary guidance, and prevent avoidable incidents capable of threatening public order.
The Commissioner warned against the use or display of weapons during political activities, stressing that politics must never be turned into a contest of intimidation or violence.
He also cautioned against the use of abusive, inflammatory, and divisive language, especially on social media platforms, noting that reckless statements often fuel conflicts that endanger lives and property.
CP Dahiru further condemned the sponsorship of thugs and the use of hard drugs during political gatherings, describing such acts as a betrayal of the future of the youth and a serious threat to societal stability.
In their response, leaders of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee expressed appreciation for the inclusive and proactive approach adopted by the Police Command.
They assured they will abide by the law, comply with police guidelines, and educate their supporters on peaceful conduct and responsible political participation.
