The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected notorious thug, Auwalu Ali, popularly known as Auwalu Dan Daba, in Dorayi Quarters of Kano.
A statement issued on Monday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officers, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the suspect, a 26-year-old man, was arrested on January 31, 2026, following credible intelligence.
According to the command, officers attached to the Dorayi police division carried out the arrest after receiving information linking the suspect to the coordination and organisation of thuggery groups that attack and rob innocent members of the public.
“Acting on credible intelligence, Police Officers attached to Dorayi Division Kano apprehended Auwalu, who has a history of coordinating and organizing thuggery groups to attack and rob innocent citizens,” the statement said.
The statement also mentioned a separate incident in Sharada Quarters, where police officers responded to a distress call involving an attack by suspected armed robbers.
The police said one of the suspects was lynched by members of the public, while a female victim sustained serious injuries during the attack.
“The injured woman was taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where a police officer donated blood to save her life,” he said.
Commending the officers, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised their commitment and sacrifice.
He specifically described the blood donation by the officer as a selfless act and thanked residents of Kano State for their continued support and cooperation with the police.
The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency contact number.
