The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group has said it welcomed the defection of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to the All Progressives Congress, describing it as a major boost to the party’s national strength and unity.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Arabinrin Aderonke MNIPR, Director of Media and Publicity, BAT-IG, the group said the governor’s decision reflects the growing confidence in the leadership, vision, and progressive ideology of the APC under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Quoting the popular proverb, the group said: “In the multitude of people lies the king’s honour. The expanding membership of the APC is a clear indication that Nigerians trust and accept the leadership and vision of our party.”
On the impact of Governor Yusuf’s defection, BAT-IG stated: “With the combined electoral strength of both political blocs, the party is now better positioned for greater victories and sustained political stability ahead of the 2027 general elections.”
The group also commended the APC leadership for promoting inclusiveness and reconciliation, adding: “Efforts to ensure unity and collaboration within the party will pave the way for a smoother and more successful journey toward 2027.”
BAT-IG further noted that the governor’s defection signals increasing confidence in the APC and its progressive ideology across the country. The statement highlighted that the party’s growing membership demonstrates public trust in its leadership and policies.
The group, which stressed that it is dedicated to advancing the political ideology, vision, and values of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisted that it is committed to building leaders who embody these principles while countering misinformation and shallow criticisms that often distort the party’s achievements.
