The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, has commended the Nigerian Army and security agencies for a successful operation in Mariga Local Government Area, which rescued about 70 kidnapped victims.
Praising the bravery and professionalism of the security forces in a statement, the Speaker said the operation has restored hope in affected communities.
Sarkin-Daji also commended the Department of State Services, DSS, and other security agencies for their strong collaboration and support, which contributed to the success of the operation carried out in Mariga Local Government Area and other parts of the Niger North Senatorial District.
He described the operation as a major relief to affected communities, saying, “The bravery and professionalism of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies led to the neutralization of several bandits, the arrest of suspected criminals, and the safe rescue of many innocent citizens who had been held captive.”
According to him, the rescue of about 70 kidnapped victims clearly demonstrates the renewed commitment of the Nigerian Army and security agencies to ending banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
The Speaker stated that the success of the operation has restored hope and confidence among residents, especially those in rural and vulnerable areas who have suffered repeated attacks and abductions.
He further reassured the security forces of the continuous support and cooperation of the Niger State Government, stressing that the government remains committed to strengthening security efforts across the state.
He then called on the people of Niger State to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, while encouraging them to support security agencies by providing useful and timely information that can assist in preventing crime and sustaining peace.
