Operatives of the Edo State Police Command, soldiers, the State Security Corps, local vigilantes, hunters, and community youths who are volunteers of the Community Safety Partnership programme have rescued a farmer and his two wives unhurt from kidnappers in the state.
DAILY POST reports that the Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City.
Ikoedem said the kidnapped victims were rescued on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m., following a distress call from residents of Egoro Amende community, Ekpoma, in Esan West Local Government Area of the state.
She said the callers reported the abduction of the farmer and his two wives from their farm in a remote area of the community.
She gave the names of the victims as Abraham Udew, Brinda Abraham, and Anna Abraham, all from Benue State.
The spokesperson explained that during the rescue operation, an intensive search was conducted across Egoro Amende Forest, Igbira Farm Settlement, and Ekeke Erah Forest in Owan East Local Government Area.
She added that upon sighting the advancing security operatives, the kidnappers abandoned the victims and fled.
Ikoedem said cutlasses, a solar panel, a torch, a canvas, rope, palm oil, and a face cap were recovered from the fleeing suspected kidnappers.
She added that continuous monitoring and follow-up bush-combing operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
