The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued two abducted victims and arrested a suspect during separate security operations in Kalgo and Dandi Local Government Areas of the state.
Confirming the development on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the operations were carried out in collaboration with local vigilante groups.
According to him, one of the victims was rescued unhurt in Kalgo LGA following a prompt response by police operatives working with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria. One suspect was arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang.
Barely 24 hours later, another victim, Garba Bachal, was rescued in Dandi LGA after operatives of the Kamba Division responded to a report of his abduction from Maigwaza Village at about 12:23 p.m. on January 30, 2026.
The police response forced the abductors to abandon the victim and flee.
The rescued victim was taken to Maigwaza Hospital for medical evaluation and is currently recovering. Police said surveillance and patrols have been intensified in the area to prevent further incidents.
“Our monitoring teams remain on ground, and we have strengthened patrols and intelligence gathering to ensure criminal elements do not regroup,” Usman said.
The Kebbi State Police Command reiterated its commitment to intelligence-driven policing and urged residents to continue providing timely information to security agencies.
