Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East under Operation Hadin Kai have foiled an ambush by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters in Borno State, killing one terrorist and recovering weapons.
The development was disclosed in a post shared on X by security analyst, Zagazola Makama on Saturday.
According to the post, the encounter occurred at about 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, when troops made contact with the terrorists during an operation.
The soldiers reportedly opened fire, forcing the attackers to flee the area in confusion.
Following the clash, troops carried out a search of the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and 19 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
One terrorist was neutralised during the exchange.
Zagazola Makama added that the troops expended 47 rounds of ammunition during the operation, and no casualties were recorded on the side of the military.
