A man has confessed that he participated in a plot that led to the murder of his elder brother after being promised N2 million by the plotters.
The man, Abubakar Sadiq, told the police that he agreed to the scheme and began to play his part after receiving N130,000 as a deposit of the agreed N2 million.
Sadiq, who is now in the custody of the Adamawa State Police Command, admitted that he tracked the movements of his elder brother, Alhaji Sadiq Kawu Boga, a businessman resident in Gombi Local Government Area.
He was arrested by police operatives acting on an intelligence report following his brother’s murder on January 20, 2026.
The Adamawa State Police Command spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed that Sadiq has confessed to conspiring with five other individuals to kill his elder brother, adding that Sadiq acted as a torchbearer against his own brother.
He explained that Sadiq’s role was to monitor his brother’s movements and disclose his whereabouts to the attackers.
Nguroje quoted Sadiq as telling investigators, “I was told to watch my elder brother and inform them whenever he was at home or moving around. After I received the alert (of N130,000) in my bank account, I agreed. I regret my actions deeply. I sold out my own blood brother for N130,000, and I am truly sorry.”
According to Nguroje, Sadiq revealed that he was invited at a later stage of the plot to a meeting in a dense bush where the final plans for his brother’s killing were concluded.
Nguroje confirmed that the prime suspect will remain in police custody while further investigations proceed, as more suspects still at large need to be traced and arrested.
