Paul Onuachu marked his return from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a goal as Trabzonspor secured a 2-1 victory over Kasimpasa in the Turkish Süper Lig on Friday.
The Nigerian striker came off the bench in the 46th minute for Kazeem Olaigbe and scored just five minutes later to give his side the lead at home.
The goal, assisted by Christ Inao Oulaï, increased Onuachu’s total goal tally for the 2025/2026 season to 12, keeping him joint-second in the Süper Lig scoring charts.
Onuachu had been part of the Super Eagles squad that won the bronze medal at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, where he scored one goal for the national team.
Kasimpasa equalised in the 61st minute through Fousseni Diabaté, who finished a through ball from Irfan Can Kahveci following a fast break.
The game remained level for over 20 minutes until the 84th minute when Oleksandr Zubkov scored the decisive goal for Trabzonspor.
Zubkov’s strike, coming from the left side of the box, was assisted by Anthony Nwakaeme, securing the 2-1 victory for the home side.
The win in Round 19 of the 2025/2026 Turkish Süper Lig season sees Trabzonspor continue their campaign with Onuachu making an immediate impact upon his return from international duty.
