The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Bauchi State Command, has intercepted a truck carrying vandalised railway tracks and arrested five suspects in connection with the crime.
The command disclosed this in a statement on its Facebook page on Friday.
The statement, signed by its spokesperson, Saminu Yusuf, said the interception followed credible intelligence.
According to Yusuf, NSCDC operatives on patrol along the Miri–Jos Road on January 12, 2026, around Gital town in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, stopped a long vehicle truck with registration number MDB 360 XA.
He explained that the truck, allegedly heading to the eastern part of the country, was loaded with vandalised railway tracks and slippers, concealed with bags of chicken feed to evade detection.

“At the receipt of intelligence on January 12, 2026, NSCDC personnel intercepted a truck conveying vandalised railway tracks, disguised with bags of chicken feed and slippers,” he said.
Yusuf added that efforts were ongoing to arrest the owner and mastermind of the operation, identified as Mr. John, as well as the truck driver, Auwal, who are currently at large.
The five suspects already in custody are Adam Kolo (42) from Borno State; Samuel Musa (44) from Yobe State; Solomon Jankaro (40) from Niger State; Emmanuel Collins (26) from Enugu State; and Sunday David (20) from Enugu State.
Recovered exhibits include 80 pieces of vandalised railway tracks, five pairs of slippers, bags of chicken feed, one long vehicle truck, and a Lexus RX 330 with registration number BWR 60 DN.
In a related development, Yusuf disclosed that one Nura Abdullahi of Wuntin Dada, Bauchi metropolis, was arrested on January 14, 2026, for alleged motorcycle theft.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Abdullahi confessed to buying stolen motorcycles from two other suspects within Bauchi State and selling eight of them to Abdul Abdullahi Magaji in Gindiri, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, with an estimated value of ₦2.02 million.
The statement noted that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and recover remaining exhibits.
While commending his personnel, the State Commandant, Oloyede Nelson, praised their commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure.
Nelson reiterated the NSCDC’s resolve in Bauchi State to rid the state of vandals and other criminal elements, warning perpetrators to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
He also urged residents, especially those living near public infrastructure, to provide timely and credible information to the NSCDC or other security agencies whenever they notice suspicious movements.
