The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers in Ibadan, the state capital.
Public Relations Officer of the command, Olayinka Ayanlade reveled this in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Thursday.
Ayanlade named the three suspects as Abdulrahman Rasheed, Biodun Fatai and Muiz Salawudeen.
The command said it also intercepted an unregistered tricycle, als known as “Keke Maruwa” that was used to carry the three suspects.
Ayanlade also disclosed that one locally fabricated single-barrel gun, modified into a short arm suitable for concealment was recovered from the suspects.
He said the suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court as soon as possible.
“The suspects were identified as Abdulrahman Rasheed, male, 19 years; Biodun Fatai, male, 18 years; and Muiz Salawudeen, male, 18 years.
“During interrogation by the Monitoring Unit, the suspects confessed to having been involved in several cases of armed robbery in Ibadan and other parts of Oyo State.
“They further admitted to specialising in the snatching of mobile phones and motorcycles, as well as dispossessing residents of their valuables at gunpoint. The suspects are currently in custody and cooperating with the ongoing investigation, after which they will be charged to court accordingly”.
