The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, is currently trending on social media over a planned wedding ceremony involving nine of his children.
An invitation card bearing the names of the minister’s children and his photograph circulated widely online.
PREMIUM TIMES obtained a copy of the invitation on Sunday.
The card indicated that the wedding ceremony would take place at the Central Mosque in Abuja on 6 February, commencing at exactly 1:30 p.m.
The children listed on the invitation card were Ibrahim, Suraj, Safiya, Maryam, Aisha, Fahad, Muh’d, Nana Firdausi and Farida.

Confirming that the invitation card was authentic, Yusuf Idris, the spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Mr Matawalle’s home state, said he is a member of the wedding committee.
He told Punch that arrangements had been finalised to ensure a smooth ceremony.
He disclosed that the nine children comprised five sons and four daughters.
“By the grace of God, the ceremony will be conducted at the Abuja Central Mosque on February 6. I also want to say that the minister’s children who are getting married are five sons and four daughters.

“I am among the committee members for this great occasion, and as I speak to you now, arrangements have reached an advanced stage to ensure a smooth ceremony in Abuja next month,” said Mr Idris.
Mr Matawalle served as Governor of Zamfara State between 2019 and 2023.
He is married to four wives, Aisha, Balkisu, Fatimah and Sadiya Matawalle.
As of press time, it remained unclear which of his wives are the mothers of the children preparing to marry their respective spouses.
