The Ayodeji Megbope Inspires Mentoring Academy has graduated 27 participants from its maiden cohort, marking a major milestone in its mission to empower women through mentorship and entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Lead Coach and Founder of the academy, Mrs Ayodeji Megbope, described the occasion as more than a convocation, but “a celebration of courage, faith, and the power of transition.”
“It is never too late for the Almighty Creator to open a new chapter in the life of any human being,” she said.
Mrs Megbope shared her personal journey of transformation, recalling how she began her entrepreneurial path with just N1,000 after an academic setback that forced her into hawking moin-moin.
“What started as a small survival effort later grew into a thriving catering business,” she said, adding that the experience shaped her resolve to help other women unlock their potential through mentorship.
Referencing her participation in the Sachs 1,000 Women Initiative, she noted that the training equipped her with vital skills that helped her grow her business and inspired her to give back.
“I have stood on His word, trusted His timing, and moved brick upon brick, step by step,” she said.
She emphasised the importance of self-awareness, focus, and self-identity, urging the graduates to confront invisible barriers and embrace creativity.
“They should enhance their abilities, develop competence, and position themselves for lasting success.
“They must build resilience, innovation, and the power of self-belief, turning challenges into opportunities for growth,” she said.
Encouraging the graduates further, she added, “If a woman who started at 40 with N1,000, whose children were mocked for stew-smelling uniforms, and who stood at a school gate selling moin-moin, can rise to own a restaurant and now a wellness centre by the grace of God, then there is no limit to your possibilities.”
She also praised her husband of 33 years, Director of AMI, Mr Olufemi Megbope, for his unwavering support, describing him as “the anchor who made all the difference.” She appreciated her children and their spouses for their sacrifices, saying, “Your endurance and understanding were the unseen foundation of my success.”
The keynote speaker, a consultant specialising in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Mrs Olufunto Igun, stressed the need for character, courage, and competence in achieving sustainable growth.
In her presentation titled ‘Rising to Your Calling: Developing the Character, Courage, and Competence Needed for the Next Level’, she urged the graduates not to settle for mediocrity.
“Continuous improvement, both personally and professionally, is essential for anyone who desires to rise,” she said, encouraging the graduates to emulate Mrs Megbope’s resilience and unwavering faith.
Earlier, Mr Olufemi Megbope lauded the founder’s courage and discipline, noting that the graduation of the first cohort was evidence of her commitment to personal growth and service to others.
He urged the graduates “not to look back, but to keep forging ahead, strengthening their skills and positioning themselves for sustainable success.”
Also speaking, the Head of Administration of AMI Academy, Mrs Elizabeth Achike-Osegbue, described the programme as an extraordinary journey.
“It started as a dream, but suddenly it has become a very big harvest,” she said. “A small seed has turned into a mighty harvest. Even for me, it has been a great opportunity to learn and grow.”
She encouraged women to remain curious and committed to growth, urging them to constantly ask, “What next?” and keep moving forward.
