Super Eagles defender, Calvin Bassey, has been handed a one-man ban following his yellow card against Morocco in the semi-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday night.
Bassey, who was walking a disciplinary tightrope ahead of the game, was booked in the first half.
This means he will miss Nigeria’s next game, whether it is the final or the third-place playoff.
It has now been confirmed that the suspension cannot be appealed.
The absence of the Fulham centre-back will be a huge miss for Eric Chelle, as he has been a rock in defence for the three-time African champions.
Captain Wilfred Ndidi is expected to be back for the next match after serving his suspension.
