Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria on their 2-0 defeat over Algeria in the ongoing African Cup of Nation, AFCON.
In a post on his verified X handle shortly after the match on Saturday, Obi said the AFCON trophy is within reach.
DAILY POST reports that Nigeria have qualified for the semi-final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Super Eagles pulled off a stunning display to beat Algeria 2-0 in their quarter-final clash on Saturday evening, to book their spot.
Reacting, the former Anambra State governor said, “Huge congratulations to our dear Super Eagles for flying high over the Desert Warriors! A 2–0 victory that sends a clear message to the rest of the continent.
“Clinical finishing, a rock-solid defence, and a rewarding gift to over 200 million people cheering you on.
“The AFCON trophy is within reach! Keep the fire burning. Let’s take this momentum straight into the semi-finals! Up Nigeria.”
