The Nigeria Democratic Front, NDF, has condemned the impeachment proceedings initiated by 26 lawmakers in Rivers State against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
NDF claimed that the move was driven by the personal interests of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
In a statement signed by the National Coordinator, Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, the NDF called on stakeholders in Rivers State and within the APC to recall the lawmakers involved, citing that they no longer represent the interests of their constituents but rather those of their political benefactor, Wike.
The statement further accused Wike of seeking to plunge Rivers State into crisis for personal gain and urged the people of Rivers State to reject the lawmakers and demand people-oriented development.
According to NDF, “It is a shameful display of political thuggery for the APC lawmakers loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to begin an ill-advised impeachment just because of the private interest of the FCT Minister.
“NDF is calling for the stakeholders in Rivers State and within the APC to launch a recall of the shameless and spineless lawmakers. Their action clearly shows that they no longer present the interest of their constituents rather they represent the interest of their political paymaster, Nyesom Wike.
“The people of Rivers State should reject the lawmakers loudly and sternly. They do not mean well for the State and for the people. Nyesom Wike wants to keep Rivers State in perpetual crisis so he can continue with his underhanded activities.
“The people of Rivers State must rise and take their state back from the blood-sucking vampires. Rivers State people no longer have blood to give. They are tired of bloodsuckers and the politics of godfathers and greed.
“NDF calls on the Governor of Rivers State to seat up and stay courageous and face front. You have the support of the people. Don’t fear the evil that barks only in the dark.
“President Tinubu should call Wike to order immediately.”
