Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has commended the outgoing Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, for his contributions to peace and security in the state during his tenure.
The governor gave the commendation on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi at a send-off ceremony organised in honour of the retired police chief.
Sani retired from the Nigeria Police Force after 34 years of service, having attained the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Idris described the former police commissioner as a disciplined and committed officer who served as the 37th Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State.
According to the governor, security in the state improved under Sani’s leadership through enhanced crime prevention strategies, intelligence-led policing and improved collaboration among security agencies.
He said the cordial relationship between the state government and security agencies during Sani’s tenure contributed to timely responses to security challenges and sustained peace across the state.
The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security, Aliyu Halilu-Wasagu, thanked the outgoing CP for his service, loyalty and commitment, noting that his contributions to the safety of lives and property would be remembered by the people of Kebbi State.
In his remarks, Sani expressed gratitude to the Federal Government, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for the opportunity to serve.
He also thanked the Kebbi State Government for its support, noting that the administration’s commitment to security reforms and provision of critical infrastructure enhanced policing and community trust in the state.
Sani appreciated officers and men of the Kebbi State Police Command, sister security agencies and other stakeholders for their cooperation during his tenure.
The event was attended by government officials, heads of security agencies, members of the judiciary, traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
