The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd), has said that for Nigeria to overcome insecurity in every part of the country, Nigerians must work together as a family to eliminate all evil forces.
He explained that there is a need for justice, stressing that it brings progress and development to every community.
Speaking at the 2025 At Yap buffet held in his honour, the minister said: “My duty is to secure the territorial integrity of Nigeria. Communities in Kaduna State, North West, have faced a lot of challenges. There is a need to urgently address these issues for Nigerians to lawfully undertake their duties for improved standards of living and a better society.”
He added that mistakes have been made in the past, assuring that from now onwards, they are determined to make peace in the interest of all in society.
The minister stated that the days of threats to the lives of Nigerians are over, pointing out that the enemies of the state are not sleeping and will not rest until they are completely dealt with.
He thanked traditional rulers, religious leaders and the people for their resilience in standing against all forms of evil in society, saying that Nigerians should learn to forgive one another for the progress and development of the country.
Governor Uba Sani, represented by Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarebe, stated that the Minister of Defence has chosen the path of hard work and discipline to rise to the position he now occupies.
She said that Kaduna State believed in him to succeed in the present assignment given by President Bola Tinubu and prayed for God’s wisdom to enable him to carry out the tasks ahead.
The paramount ruler of At Yap Chiefdom, Sir Dominic Yahaya, called for peaceful coexistence in the area, in Kaduna State and across the country, advising that Nigerians should be their brother’s keepers in all spheres of life.
