Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested two suspected kidnappers allegedly responsible for kidnapping and related threats within the Sarau Belel community in Maiha Local Government Area.
The command said in a statement on Saturday morning that the arrest was made on Boxing Day.
“On December 26, 2025, the Command received a complaint from Emmanuel Daniel, a resident of Sagal Village, Sarau Belel, who reported that he was threatened with kidnapping by two individuals,” the statement said.
Signed by the command’s spokesman, Suleiman Nguroje, the statement said the suspects also claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of Emmanuel Daniel’s younger brother, Joshua Daniel, in November 2024.
It explained that upon receipt of the complaint, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Dankombo Morris, immediately deployed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Sarau Belel and operatives of the division to carry out a coordinated operation, which led to the arrest of the two suspects.
The suspects were identified as Sunday Yakubu, aged 36, and Daniel Yakubu, aged 38, both residents of Konjoli Village in Maiha LGA.
The statement added that following their confession to the allegations, the suspects are currently assisting the command with useful information.
