A male pedestrian has been killed in a hit-and-run accident along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway in Ogun State on Christmas Day.
The incident occurred at about 8 a.m. near Odogbolu Junction, inbound Ijebu-Ode, according to the spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi.
Akinbiyi disclosed that the driver of the vehicle involved fled the scene immediately after the crash, before emergency officials could arrive.
Images obtained from the scene showed the victim lying lifeless by the roadside, with visible injuries consistent with a vehicle impact, particularly to the head.
Confirming the development, Akinbiyi said, “There was a case of hit-and-run by an unidentified vehicle at Odogbolu Junction, inbound Ijebu-Ode, on the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway.”
He later provided an update, stating that relatives of the deceased had since arrived at the location and taken the body away for burial.
“The earlier reported hit-and-run at Odogbolu Junction has been evacuated by his family members for burial,” he added.
