The Lagos State Command and Control Centre has disclosed that medical emergencies and road crashes accounted for the bulk of the 11,127 emergency incidents recorded across the state between January and November 2025.
The disclosure was made on Tuesday by the General Manager of the LSCCC, Mr Femi Giwa, during a press conference at the agency’s office in Ikeja, Lagos.
Also present at the briefing were the Head of Information and Communication Technology, Ajijola Bashiru Rahman, and the Head of Administration and Human Resources, Adeeso Adeyinka.
PUNCH Metro reports that the LSCCC is responsible for coordinating emergency and disaster response across Lagos State, ensuring the efficient deployment, tracking, and demobilisation of resources for effective incident management, while also serving as the custodian of the state’s emergency toll-free lines, 767 and 112.
Speaking on the agency’s performance in 2025, Giwa said the Centre recorded a total of 11,127 emergency incidents within the period under review.
“The Centre, which serves as the hub for real-time monitoring, communication, and the dispatch of emergency services across Lagos State, received and managed incidents spanning medical emergencies, road accidents, fire outbreaks, security-related incidents, and other emergencies,” he said.
Giving a breakdown of the figures, Giwa noted that medical emergencies topped the list, with 2,192 cases recorded, followed closely by road accidents involving broken-down vehicles and fallen or broken containers, which accounted for 2,188 incidents.
“Fire-related incidents, including fire outbreaks and vehicle fires, were recorded 1,922 times, while civil disturbances such as fights and riots accounted for 732 incidents,” he said.
According to him, robbery-related incidents, including household theft, were reported 410 times, while infrastructure-related cases, such as PHCN pole sparks and pipeline vandalism, accounted for 334 incidents.
“In addition, the Centre recorded 57 cases of building collapse, 323 incidents of violence against persons, and 40 cases of domestic violence during the period under review,” Giwa added.
An analysis of incidents by Local Government Areas showed that Alimosho recorded the highest number of emergency cases, with 1,507 incidents, followed by Eti-Osa with 1,283 cases, while Ikeja ranked third with 1,169 incidents.
“Other LGAs recorded the following figures: Oshodi-Isolo had 908 incidents, Kosofe recorded 874, Ikorodu had 711, Surulere recorded 519, and Lagos Island accounted for 495 incidents,” he said.
He further disclosed that Amuwo-Odofin recorded 482 incidents, Lagos Mainland had 457, Ibeju-Lekki recorded 447, Agege had 379, Mushin recorded 341, Ojo had 289, Shomolu recorded 274, and Ifako-Ijaiye had 269 incidents.
“Badagry recorded 237 incidents, Apapa had 189, and Epe recorded 159, while Ajeromi-Ifelodun recorded the lowest number of incidents, with 146 cases during the period under review,” he added.
Giwa urged Lagos residents to make use of the state’s toll-free emergency numbers, 767 and 112, whenever emergencies occur.
“These toll-free numbers are key to resolving emergencies in Lagos. We have trained professionals who receive these calls, and they ask a series of questions.
“I urge residents to be patient and provide accurate information so that the appropriate responders can be dispatched,” he said.
He noted that emergencies differ in nature and require tailored responses.
“Only a few states in the federation are blessed with this level of emergency infrastructure.
“Our Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has put a solid structure in place for the Command and Control Centre to function effectively as the hub that coordinates first responders and supports emergency operations across the state,” Giwa added.
