Rivers United head coach,Yemi Olarewaju, has blamed fatigue for his team’s loss to Barau FC.
The Pride of Rivers were beaten by 4-1 by Barau FC at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Friday.
Osimaga Duke fired Rivers United into the lead before Usman Maidubji equalised for Barau FC.
Jimmy Ambrose put the Maliya Boys into the lead as Kabir Abdullahi’s brace put the game beyond the reach of Rivers United.
The defeat ended Rivers United’s seven-game unbeaten run on the road.
Olarewaju said they will put the game behind them and concentrate on their next league fixture against Katsina United.
“We dominated majority of the game but the outcome wasn’t what we expected as it was due to fatigue,” Olarewaju told the club’s media.
“The league is a marathon we have to put the defeat behind us and concentrate on the next game.”
