Emeritus Prof Peter Adeniyi has handed over the Egbeoba High School Library, Ikole-Ekiti, which was upgraded by his foundation.
The upgrade included renovation and equipment of the library with modern ICT facilities.
Adeniyi, who is the Chairman of Prof Peter Adeniyi Foundation, explained that the library was upgraded to serve as a hub for knowledge, imagination, and opportunity.
“This library symbolises gratitude, hope, and lifelong learning. May it inspire students to dream higher, reach further and become better,” he said.
He recalled old memories of his school days, urging old students to commit to the advancement of education and the rebuilding of the school infrastructure.
Adeniyi appealed to the Ekiti State Government to support the school in areas of dormitory facilities, well-equipped science laboratories, a health bay and school fencing.
“We respectfully request that you convey our plea to the Federal Government for support.
“To my fellow Egbeoba alumni, especially the older ones who may still harbour memories of the original site and the struggles we faced, I understand the pain of relocation. However, I urge you to join hands with us to rebuild the Egbeoba of our dreams in this current location.
“Let us put aside our differences and work together to provide a better future for our children and generations yet unborn,” Adeniyi said.
The school principal, Mr Joseph Ojo, said the upgraded library would enhance studies.
“This facility is a huge relief for students. We urge them to be of good character and use the facility to enhance their studies. We also encourage the donor and other alumni to do more,” Ojo said.
The school’s alumni president, Prof. Femi Omotoso, hailed Adeniyi’s contribution to intellectual development as he urged fellow old students not to forget their alma mater, but rally round it to take it to higher heights.
